3 Easy Steps to Maintain Your Plantation Shutters

Shutters are extremely durable and long-lasting, but cleaning them regularly will ensure they last as long as possible. It is relatively easy to maintain your window shutters and simply involves removing dirt, washing them and drying them. They should be cleaned once a month to stop dirt and grime from building up and make the cleaning process easier when it is undertaken. 

1. Remove dust

Dust and dirt should be removed from the shutters first, which can be done with a vacuum. Shutters should then be wiped down with a dry cloth to ensure any stubborn dirt is gone. 

2. Wipe them down

After removing dust and debris, the shutters should be wiped down with a damp cloth. No harsh chemicals should be necessary unless something very stubborn has found its way onto the shutters, as this may affect the shutters. Too much water will also cause timber shutters to warp, although PVC shutters are more moisture-resistant. 

3. Dry the shutters

Drying the shutters will assist in preventing warping and also avoid dust sticking to any areas of the shutters.
