What is Involved In The Installation Of Window Shutters?

Window shutters are a gorgeous home addition, enhancing any property with privacy, light control, added security and more. These stylish shutters can be installed on just about any window as they are versatile and tailor-made for every frame, but what is actually involved in the installation process? 

The Time Frame

On average, it can take around three to five weeks from the time that shutters are ordered to then be manufactured and installed. 

The Cost

For plantation shutters, installation generally ranges from $70-$100 per hour. Roller shutters, on the other hand, may cost between $250-$2500 for installation spending on the style, size and choice of motorisation options which may require the assistance of an electrician. 

The Installation Process

For plantation shutters:

Step 1: The window is measured to ensure correct sizing. 

Step 2: The shutter frame is assembled.

Step 3: The shutter frame is placed, adjusted and drilled into the window frame. 

Step 4: Shutter panels are attached.

Step 5: Operation is tested. 

For roller shutters:

Step 1: It is determined exactly where on the wall above the window the shutter will be mounted on to. 

Step 2: Holes are drilled into the wall and the shutter guides. 

Step 3: Insert the wall plugs.

Step 4: The shutter guides are slid onto the end plate legs and secured.

Step 5: The shutter is placed onto the wall. 

Step 6: The shutter guides are secured.

Step 7: Motorisation is wired.
